Kitchen Remodeling in Roswell, GA
Closed-Off Kitchens Opened Up and Rebuilt Around How You Cook.
A Roswell Kitchen That Opens to the Rest of the House
Roswell's older neighborhoods are full of kitchens from the eighties and nineties that were built as a room of their own. The cooking happens behind a wall, the family room is on the other side of it, and the counters, cabinets and lighting are the ones the house came with. Those kitchens rarely need more square feet. They need the wall dealt with and the room rebuilt around how you cook.
That's the job: a walkthrough at your house, a plan for the layout first, then cabinets, counters, lighting and appliances chosen with you and priced in one written quote. Nothing is scheduled until you've seen the number.
We're based in Milton, about twenty minutes from most of Roswell, so we're on site every morning your kitchen is torn up.

What a Roswell Kitchen Remodel Involves
Opening the Kitchen to the Family Room
In most Roswell homes from the eighties and nineties, the wall between the kitchen and the family room is the first conversation. Some of those walls carry nothing and come out cleanly. Others hold up the floor or the roof above, and opening them means a beam sized for the span and posts that carry the load down to the foundation. We find out which kind you have at the walkthrough, before the plan depends on it.
With the wall gone, an island usually gives back the counter space the wall took, with seating on the family-room side so whoever is cooking is part of the conversation instead of behind it.
Cabinets, Counters and Light
Builder cabinets from that era tend to stop short of the ceiling, waste the corners and leave small appliances living on the counter. Full-height cabinets, deep drawers in the base run and a real pantry where the floor plan allows it fix most of that. Quartz or granite goes on top, with a tile backsplash that wipes clean.
Lighting matters almost as much as the layout. Recessed lights over the walkways, under-cabinet lights over the counters and pendants over the island replace the single ceiling fixture most older kitchens were built with.
Making It Look Like It Belongs to the House
When a wall comes out, the floor under it and the trim around it have to be patched or replaced. In older Roswell homes the new trim, doors and flooring are matched to what's already there, so the kitchen reads as part of the house and not as a new room bolted onto an old one.
Older walls sometimes hide wiring or plumbing that won't meet today's code once it's exposed. When that happens, you get the price in writing and decide on it before work continues.
Living at Home While It Happens
Most Roswell families stay in the house the whole time. Plastic sheeting and zip doors close the kitchen off, a microwave, coffee maker and fridge move to a temporary corner, and the work area is cleaned up before we leave each day. Most kitchens take four to eight weeks on site once materials have arrived, and the schedule you get includes cabinet lead times.

Frequently Asked Questions About Kitchen Remodeling in Roswell
Does a kitchen remodel in Roswell need a permit?
When it moves walls, plumbing or electrical, yes. The Building Division of Roswell's Community Development department handles residential permits, filed through the city's Permitting & Licensing HUB. We coordinate it, and the inspections are built into the schedule.
My house is in the Roswell Historic District. Does a kitchen remodel need historic review?
Usually not for the kitchen itself. Roswell's historic district dates to 1971, and under Georgia's Historic Preservation Act owners in a historic district need a certificate of appropriateness before a material change to the outside of the house. A new window, a door out to the deck or an exterior vent can bring the review in, so we check for those at the walkthrough.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Four to eight weeks on site for most kitchens once cabinets and counters have arrived. A remodel that keeps the layout is quicker; one that takes out a load-bearing wall sits toward the longer end.
Can you take out a load-bearing wall?
Yes. A beam sized for the span replaces the wall, and posts carry the load down to the foundation. We confirm what the wall carries before planning around it, and the permit and inspection cover the beam.
Can we keep our appliances?
If they're in good shape and suit the new layout, yes. The cabinets are planned around their exact sizes, and we'll tell you if one is worth replacing while the kitchen is open.
Do you help pick cabinets and counters?
Yes. We walk through cabinet lines, countertop materials and fixtures with you, and tell you where spending more is worth it and where it isn't.
